Lavender Woven Basket Gift Set

Handmade from the real lavender I grow here on the central coast of California, lavender wands were invented by Victorian ladies as a method for preserving the lavender from their gardens. A single photo demonstrates how I create these using 30 shades of double-sided satin ribbon. This listing is for orders of five (5) medium (10 inch) lavender wands.

Lavender wands can only be made while the lavender flowers are still on the stems and the stems can be bent without breaking, ensuring the flowers fill the end of the finished wand. If made too soon, the flowers will not dry properly, and if made too late, the stems will break instead of bend. To refresh the release of the wonderful scent of the flowers inside, occasionally roll the woven end gently between your hands.

The wand itself will last for many years, with one photo even showing a 40-year-old wand that still held the aroma of lavender. A wonderful addition to any gift baskets, lavender wands make great wedding and party favors or can be used as additions to a centerpiece.
